OBITUARY Gerard John Moudry October 7, 1924 – November 22, 2018 Gerard J. Moudry, 94, beloved husband of the late Agnes D. Moudry, died on November 22, 2018 at Gilchrist Hospice. He was born on October 7, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland. A World War II veteran, he attended the University of Maryland on the GI Bill, graduating in 1950.

He worked for Baltimore City’s Department of Recreation and Parks from 1951 until his retirement in 1994, rising from the rank of laborer to become the city’s Chief Horticulturist in 1958. His avocation, the propagation of rare shrubs and trees, brought him great joy throughout his life, and he spent many years working in his greenhouse and gardens. He gave generously of plants and expertise to his church, his children’s school, and many organizations and individuals.

He is survived by daughters Teresa and Roberta Moudry, and grandchildren Reade and Quinn Otto-Moudry. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes, brothers Raymond and Richard Moudry, and son-in-law Christian F. Otto. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd.

Nottingham, MD 21236 on Monday, November 26 from 2 to 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 27 at 10:30am at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 9215 Old Harford Road, Baltimore, MD 21234.
