Gerdean Roop Blankenship, 86, of Martinsville, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Sovah Health in Martinsville. She was born on October 19, 1932, to the late Samuel Jackson and Ola Mills Roop. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Marvin Blankenship; daughters Laura Blankenship and Cathy Blankenship; sister Carlene Wright; brothers, Edwin Roop, Willie Roop and Clifford Roop.

She had worked at Globman’s Department Store and had attended Trinity Baptist Church. She was a wonderful Mother and liked flowers. Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her brother, Paul R. Roop, Sr., and one grandchild, Courtney Roop.

The graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ferris-Roop Family Cemetery in Critz, Virginia, with Kelly Ratcliff presiding over the service. The family will receive friends from 1-1:30 P.M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel before the service.
