Obituary for Gertie Lee Noble Gertie Lee Tiger-Noble passed from this walk of life on Tuesday at sunset on September 11, 2018 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 7:58. Gertie was 87 years and 6 days. Gertie Tiger-Noble was born on September 5, 1931 in a house in Porter, Oklahoma on land belonging to her mother.

She was born into the prominent family of full blood Muscogee Creeks who settled in the “Bottoms of Broken Arrow” near the Verdigris River. Her parents are Sally Smith-Tiger and Benjamin Tiger. Gertie is a member of the Bird Clan belonging to the Tribal town of Tulsa Canadian.

Ms. Noble was a factory worker always standing on her feet to raise and provide for six children as a single parent. After retirement she was employed by the Muscogee Creek Nation Elderly Nutrition Program and served in various leadership capacities at the Coweta Indian community. Gertie was a highly skilled native seamstress, basket and moccasin maker.

She loved to bead, paint, crochet, weave, embroidery, garden and plant. Her hands were blessed. She is a member of the Broken Arrow United Indian Methodist Church and loved to speak and sing in our Muscogee Creek language.

Gertie Tiger-Noble was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Tiger; her mother, Sally Smith-Tiger; three brothers, Andrew John Tiger, Henry Tiger and Thomas Tiger; five sisters, Melissa McCoy, Virginia Noble, Nancy McIntosh, and two infant sisters; and one son, Stephen Paul Noble. Gertie Tiger-Noble is survived by daughter, Brenda Walker and husband, Rudy Walker of Winchester, Oklahoma; daughter, Victoria Pickering and husband, Dwight Pickering of Ponca City, Oklahoma; son, Dewayne Noble and wife, Patricia Noble of Coweta, Oklahoma; son, Larry Noble of Coweta, Oklahoma; son, Garry Noble and wife, Arlene Noble of Coweta, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 38 nieces and nephews; 86 great-nieces and nephews; 96 great-great-nieces and nephews; 27 great-great-great nieces and nephews for a total of 251 nieces and nephews. She had an enormous number of cousins and friends, too many to count.

We would like to make mention of one very loved and special friend, Josephine Dolly McHenry. Pallbearers will be Joe McHenry, James Major McHenry, Charles Son McHenry, Thunder Whitecloud, Brian Vaughn and Mike McChristian. Wake will be held at 7 pm on Monday, September 17, 2018 with Funeral services following at 11 am on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 both being held at Broken Arrow Indian Methodist Church, 20854 E. 141st Street South, Broken Arrow, OK.
