DABBS, Gertrude Elizabeth, of Charleston, WV, went home to be with our Lord, on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Hubbard House of Charleston. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Dewayne Grooms and her parents Richard and Cora Grooms. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving companion of 53 years, Ernest Beasley, her daughters Gwendolyn Martin (Daniel Watson), Cencille Green, Brenda Byrd and Judith Dabbs; grandchildren Cencille Martin, Rinda Grooms, Darrell (Kate) Byrd, William “Bill” (Jessica) Graiser, Richard (Lindsey) Grooms, Mark Graiser, Kenneth Waterman and Sierra Easley; 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great granchildren; brother George (Jean) Grooms; sister Mildred Grooms; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

After retiring as a nurse from CAMC, Gertrude spent most of her time enjoying her family, reading and crocheting afghans for friends and family. She was the rock of our family, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be noon on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Kanawha Valley Gardens, 6027 East Dupont Avenue, Glasgow WV.

Family will receive friends from 11:00am until time of service. Titus Chapter 3 Verse 5: Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his MERCY he saved us. The family of Gertrude Dabbs would like to thank the dedicated staff at CAMC 3 South and Hubbard House of Charleston for the loving care and kindness shown to our mother and the family.

Losing your mother can be life’s most devastating experience. The staff at CAMC and Hubbard House made the past couple of days more bearable. Thank you and God Bless You.
