Obituary for Gertrude Lucille Sweeney Gertrude Lucille Sweeney, age 93 of Brandywine, Maryland, died June 13, 2018 at Washington Adventist Hospital. Gertrude was a server for 63 years with Reeves Bakery (famous for candy all over the world) in Washington, DC. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

She liked to play the casinos, reading, crossword puzzles, dancing, and trips to Nashville and Florida. She was the daughter of Harry S. Farmer and Evelyn Farmer. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Clifford S. Sweeney, Sr

She is survived by her sons, Ronald Sweeney and Clifford Sweeney, Jr.; her daughter, Mary Marshall; her brother, Kenneth Farmer; and her sisters, Virginia Hanson, Betty Robertson, and Mary Ann Panella. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends received on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 and where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11AM.

Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735. Memorials in Gertrude’s name are asked to the Humane Society of Charles County, PO Box 1015, Waldorf, Maryland 20604 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Memorial and Honor Program), 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
