Gilberto Velez December 28, 2018 Gilberto Velez, 79, of Cumberland died Friday, December 28, 2018 at his home. He was born March 23, 1939 in Sabana Grande, PR to Jose and Maria Theresa (Montalvo) Velez. He was married in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico on February 6, 1971 to Minerva Velez Ramos.

Gilberto was a talented pencil artist and guitarist, playing and singing with several bands in his native Puerto Rico. He also used his musical talents to entertain the elderly and members of his church. He is survived by: his loving wife, Minerva of Cumberland; 4 children: Evelyn Velez of Orlando, FL, Gilberto Velez, Jr. of Orlando, Brenda (Pedro) Diaz of West Palm Beach, FL and Linnette (Jesus) Torres of Cumberland; grandchildren: Noel Ayala, Katherine Ayala, Onelia Gonzales, Frank Gonzales, Marie Gonzales, Giovanni Torres, Emmanuel Torres and Jonathan Torres; several great grandchildren; siblings: Anna Velez, Neyqui Velez, Jose Velez; many nieces and nephews.

Gilberto was preceded in death by sisters: Rosa Velez, Adanes Santiago and Adela Velez. Death: December 28, 2018 Funeral services will be held at 4-7 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Skinner Funeral Home – Cumberland with Juan Carlos Bermudez officiating. Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
