Giles Nichols March 21, 1936 – May 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Giles G. “Nicky” Nichols, 83, of Parsons, Kansas, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons. He was born on March 21, 1936, in Parsons to Lester and Virginia (Giles) Nichols. Nicky grew up and attended school in Parsons.

In 1954, he graduated from Parsons High School and then attended Parsons Junior College. At that time, Nicky began working in his parents clothing store, Nichols Men’s and Women’s Wear. He and his brother, Jim, purchased the business in 1974, and operated the store until 1989.

From that time, he worked for Signature Sportswear until retiring in 1991. Nicky was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Rotary Club. An avid sports fan, especially of Parsons High School sports, Parsons Junior College basketball, University of Kansas sports and the Kansas City Royals, one of his favorite pastimes was watching his nephews’ sports activities.

In earlier years, Nicky coached little league baseball and football. Survivors include: Two Brothers – Jim Nichols and his wife, Linda, of Parsons Lynn Nichols of Longmont, CO Three Nephews and their families: Steve Nichols and his wife, Becky, and their children, Ben, Joey and Emma Kate, of Overland Park, KS John Nichols and his wife, Heather, and their children, Jackson, Olivia and Hannah, of Springdale, AR Bobby Nichols and his wife, Caroline, and their children Tess, Maeve and Bobby, Jr., of Lawrence, KS He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Labette Community College Capital Campaign for the Athletic Department. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
