Gladys E. Armstrong, 88, passed Friday, February 15, 2019 of age-related causes in Woodburn, Oregon. She had been lovingly taken care of by her Husband, children, family, and friends. Gladys was born in Lewis, Kansas in December of 1930 to parents Clarence and Mary Westwood.

As a young girl, she and her family moved from Kansas to Oregon. Gladys and her family completed their trip to Oregon by driving their car down the Old Columbia Highway. Gladys recounts this as a harrowing experience, as she had never seen that much water.

She attended Canby High School where she met her Husband, Richard Armstrong. They spent 70 happy years together and raised four wonderful children. While raising her children Gladys worked as a bookkeeper.

She was a voracious reader, a trait she passed on to her children. Gladys also loved to crochet and created many beautiful afghans and doilies for family and friends. Gladys and Richard were longtime members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She held many positions in the church such as; Relief Society President, and Sunday School teacher. She loved to share her knowledge of the gospel with others. Gladys and her husband were also temple ordinance workers at The Portland Oregon Temple.

Gladys and Richard shared a love of Genealogy and Family History, and in retirement performed a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City, Utah. The couple traveled with friends to England and Scotland to research their own family origins. Gladys is survived by her Husband; Richard, her two Sisters; Mildred (Millie) and Naomi, four children; Evan (Dennis), Eric, Paul, and Elizabeth (Buffie), thirteen Grandchildren, and twenty-two Great Grandchildren.
