Glenna H. (Boles) Wells,88, of Morgantown, passed away Tues. , March 5, 2019, at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov.
24, 1930, to Daisy (Steele) and Roy Boles in Jodie, WV. Survivors include: her beloved husband of 61 years, Fred Wells; daughter Dawn Wells; son Stuart Wells, his spouse, Bonnie Brown, and their son Clancy Wells; sister-in-law Ramona Ann (Wells) Goodman and husband Harold Goodman; brother-in-law Dick Wells; and six nieces and nephews and their families. Glenna was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School.
She earned her teaching certificate at Marshall University, attended West Virginia Tech, and later earned a Regent’s Bachelor of Arts degree at WVU. She loved children and thrived in her career as an elementary and kindergarten teacher, having taught at Falls View, Cannelton, and Morgantown. Wholly devoted to her Christian faith, she was a member of Harner Chapel United Methodist Church since 1973 and a longtime member of the church choir.
She relished time with family and friends, enjoyed music, tending to her flowers, bird-watching, and rooting for either the Mountaineers or Thundering Herd, as conditions allowed. She felt a good day should begin by reading the comics, especially “Peanuts,” and savoring some hot coffee with the handsome Navy vet she married in 1957. One of her cautionary sayings was, “Life is what happens when you’re making plans”.
Glenna was preceded in death by her parents, their infant son Douglas, her sisters Pearl “Jerry” Shimer and Ina Dotson Hartman, and brothers-in-law Ronald Shimer, Charles Dotson, and Glenn Hartman. Glenna’s family thanks her health care team, the caring Mapleshire staff, Amedysis Hospice, and all who gave their support and prayers.
