Gloria I Brooks Sutton , May 31, 1969 — March 08, 2019

On Friday, March 8, 2019, Gloria Idolia Brooks-Sutton transitioned into heavenly paradise surrounded by her family. On May 31, 1969, a beautiful baby girl was born to the late Helen Brown and Arnold Pope in Virginia. She was raised by her grandmother, the late Nancey Pope with the help of a loving man; John Brown of South Carolina.

She is preceded in death by one sister; Doris Archer. Gloria was known for many things, including her wisdom, sense of humor, zeal for life and her special way of handling family business. As a strong principle career woman, she valued patience and hard work.

Her family was very important to her. She was always ready to put together a family gathering. Gloria grew up in Virginia as well as attended Hampton City Schools, graduating from Bethel High School.

Gloria met and was married to Ronald Brooks until his passing. During that union two children were born; Da’rel Brooks and Destiney Brooks. She later married Tyrone Sutton.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband; Tyrone Sutton, children; Da’rel Brooks and Destiney Brooks of the home, T’annette Brooks of Hampton, VA. , Derick Brooks (LauRen) of Richmond, VA, stepchildren; Qaadir Sims of Ahoskie, N.C., Karen Sims of Raleigh, N.C., and Tyeesha Weber of N.J., three granddaughters, one grandson, three brothers; Tim Pope of Ahoskie N.C., John Pope (Linda) of Cofield, N.C., Julius Simmons (Tish) of Hampton, VA, one sister; Althea Simmons of Hampton, VA, father in law; Willie Sutton, two sister in laws; Shelia Askew of Ahoskie, N.C., and Wanda Sutton of Jersey City, NJ, one brother in law; Quinton Sutton of Philadelphia, PA and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and a dear friend; Mrs. Betty Manson of Hampton, VA. Services for Mrs. Gloria Idolia Brooks-Sutton will be held 1:00p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Zion Baptist Church 129 W. County St. Hampton, VA.

by Dr. Joshua King Sr. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing for Mrs. Brooks -Sutton will be held from noon until 5:00p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at C.C.Carter Funeral Home, Inc It is the desire of the Sutton family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
