Gloria M. Bittle, 80, of Roxbury, MA passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2019. Gloria was born October 20, 1938 to the late William M. Little and Maria Little of Georgia. She was the oldest of five children.

Gloria was a star student and she excelled in every subject with honors. Gloria enjoyed learning and by doing so she was the youngest of her graduating class at the age of 16. She loved music and dancing – when she was growing up she would often sneak off to go dancing and join local dance competitions.

Gloria left Georgia and moved to Allentown, PA after graduating high school. She later moved to Boston in the 60’s. In Boston Gloria was always hardworking and held many different jobs.

Her spirit, laughter and smile touched so many. Gloria met her late husband, O.G. Bittle Sr., of 56 years in Boston. Gloria was the mother of 6 children.

Her favorite past times were spending time with family and friends, listening to music and dancing, and conversation. She was always willing to help whenever she could. After a long day of work, she would come home, kick off her shoes and you could find her busy in the kitchen.

Over the years Gloria achieved many awards and certificates. She always pushed education and how important it is to make it in this world. Gloria accepted Christ into her life and became a faithful member (of 20 years) at Mt.

Cavalry Church of Roxbury. She strongly believed in the power of prayer. She was the President of the Gospel Choir, very active in the Missionary Department, Hospitality Group and the Helping Hands Program.

Gloria was also an activist – she volunteered and then gained employment at Mass Senior Council of Roxbury, she held up signs, participated in bake sales and reached out to educate Seniors of their rights. Gloria encouraged all people to vote and volunteered at the voting polls throughout Boston. As you can tell she enjoyed meeting people.

We could go on and on about the many ways Gloria touched so many lives. She will be missed by many but never forgotten. She leaves behind with heavy hearts but gained her wings of everlasting life.

Gloria is survived by her brothers Bill Little, James Little (Pat), brother in law, Pete Bittle (Elizabeth), sister in laws Sarah M. Underwood, Audrey Powell. Gloria was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Ruff of PA. and Annie M. Burnette of Boston, MA.
