Gloria Witek, raised in Berwyn, former resident of Garfield Ridge in Chicago, then Westchester, died May 22, 2019 in her assisted living apartment near her children in southern Illinois. Mrs. Witek, 95, was born to James and Anna Pihera. Wife of 30 years to John Witek (deceased), mother of Jon Witek, Judith Witek (deceased), Sheila (& Steve) Dietsch, and Roger (& Cyndi) Witek; and grandmother to Haley Dietsch and Leigh Witek.

Gloria graduated from Morton East High School in 1941. After high school, Gloria worked 15 years at 3M as a secretary, and traveled the country with her cousins and friends. She married John Witek in 1957 and was active in her children’s primary education, volunteering at St. Daniel the Prophet school.

She enjoyed vacations with her family and following her children’s school activities. After her husband’s death, Gloria traveled the world with her cousins and friends, and visited her children and granddaughters. Gloria eventually moved to Westchester and lived independently until 93 years old.

Gloria loved gardens, musical theater, and listening to the Cubs on WGN. She cherished friendships with her cousins and friends from 3M and St. Daniel. The Witek family offers special thanks to Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Shiloh, IL, Home Instead companion and care providers, and Heartland Hospice nurses.

Visitation Friday, May 31, 2019 from 3-9pm at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th St. just west of Harlem) Funeral service on Saturdy, June 1, 2019 at 10 AM at Foran Funeral Home (708)458-0208. Memorial contributions in Gloria’s name are encouraged to the American Cancer Society, Disabled American Veterans, or Misericordia Home.
