Goldie Marie Sanks, 89, passed away at her home in Fort Collins, Colorado on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. She was born on July 6, 1929 in Los Angeles, California to a proud family whose roots in the country stretch back long before the American Revolution. She was a beacon of light and happiness for her family, friends, and neighbors.

Every person that had the privilege of meeting her was left with a feeling of joy. Just shy of her 90th birthday, Goldie enjoyed socializing and meeting new people. She would recall what was going on in the lives of her family and friends while sharing tales from her life stretching back to the Great Depression.

Nobody left her presence feeling like a stranger. She loved animals, especially dogs and pigs, chile rellenos, roses, the color pink, and sealing presents and cards with copious amounts of scotch tape. Goldie kept a special place in her heart for Elvis Presley.

Goldie believed in the value of hard work and made a career as a machinist in the paper industry. While she was never wealthy in a material sense, Goldie was always giving. From her time as a Job’s Daughter in her youth to her volunteer services with the Salvation Army during her later years, Goldie always sought to improve the lives of those around her and regularly contributed to a wide array of charities.

Some of her favorites included Shriners Hospitals, veteran and law enforcement organizations, animal welfare groups, and St. Joseph’s Indian School. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Lula Pearle Hampton, sister Gertrude Hampton, brother James Hampton, husband Jack Wallace Sanks, and her son Jack Wesley Sanks. She is survived by two children Tracy Sanks (Patricia Carreon) and Eugenia Mink (Larry Mink); five grandchildren Noel Haley, Joel Martinez, Anicasio Munoz Jr., Timothy Sanks, and Tyler Sanks; eight great grandchildren Shelly Landis, Ashley Fuller, Anicasio Munoz III, Isaiah Munoz, Monet Munoz, Sarah Haley, Vincent Martinez, and Lorelei Sanks; and four great-great grandchildren Tidus Landis, Alex Landis, Delilah Olide, and Kenley Olide.

A fifth great-great granddaughter is due to be born in September. Goldie was an inspiration; she was deeply loved by her family and will be profoundly missed. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Jack in the Garden of Victory at Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia, California.
