Goldie Maxine (Phillips) Wright, 88, of Staunton and formerly of McDowell, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 surrounded by her family at Augusta Health in Fishersville. She was born September 25, 1930 in Glady, WV, a daughter to the late George Porter and Sarah (Armstrong) Phillips. Goldie was a beloved mother who enjoyed spending her time outdoors.

She was a past member of the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. She is survived by her son, Marvin “Lynn” Wright, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Mary Emma Botkin and four brothers, Charles, Gaye, Paul and Clarence Phillips.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Head Waters Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends and neighbors in attendance. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Delbert Rexrode, 527 Windrush Lane, Doe Hill, Va.
