Age 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Beloved husband of Carol Rao; loving father of Noelle Rao (Scott Gillam) and Leila Rao (Jim McIntyre). Dr. Rao was a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon who served at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh from 1970 until his retirement.

He enjoyed photography, nature, exercise, discussing politics, and was an avid sports fan. No Visitation. Service and Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations may be made in memory of Dr. Gopal Rao to Harmar Village Care Center, 715 Freeport Road, Cheswick, PA 15024. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Harmar Village Care Center staff for their excellent, loving care for both Dr. Gopal Rao and his wife, Carol Rao.
