Obituary for Mr. Gordon William Lundman Remembrance and Celebration for Gordon “Corky” Lundman, a long time resident of Orono Minnesota who passed away September 11, 2018 at the age of 97 years and 36 days. He was born in Annandale township on August 6, 1921, the only child of Willie Emannel & Esther Emilie (Olson) Lundman. He grew up in Buffalo Township, and spent wonderful times at his uncle Fritz Olson’s Century Farm with his cousins.

In his early life he mowed lawns, candled eggs, cleaned the local movie house and played his favorite instrument the valve trombone in the Buffalo dance hall band. Graduating from Buffalo High School, he worked with his father Willie, and later with his uncle Ed in the family’s watch repair and jewelry business and learned the trade. He soon enlisted in the US Army in the Deadeye 96th Infantry Division during WWII and served in Okinawa & Philippines where he earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart in service to ensure our freedoms and carried shrapnel in his body the rest of his life.

He was very glad to return to the USA and to his family, and after the war he graduated from the Gemological Institute of America and went on to Bradley University in Peoria Illinois. On June 2, 1947 he married Helen Lucille Hokom and with her loving support he established his first watch repair and jewelry store in downtown Minneapolis that grew into seven outlets as E & L Jewelers in the Donaldson department stores with his partner Stan Efron. He was a devoted and active member in church and in his community.

In 1959 Gordon and Helen’s son Todd Olaf arrived, they spent time at their cabin on Lake Minnetonka, which later became their family home. In 1961 their daughter Elise Mary arrived to complete this loving family. He had an immense love of life and commitment to his family.

They enjoyed traveling the world and many winters in Florida and parts south. Later in life they built their summer home on the breathtaking shores of Lake Superior and enjoyed sharing their retirement with fishing, picking wild blueberries and of course, entertaining his many life long friends, neighbors and family. He is survived by Son: Todd & Anne, Daughter: Elise, Grandchildren: David, Matthew & Joann.
