Grady Lee Kirkland, 89, of Franklin went to be with The Lord On November 30, 2018. Mr. Kirkland was born in Swain County, North Carolina on November 18, 1929 to the late Pearly and Hattie Kirkland. He left Franklin and worked for General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan for thirty years.

Upon retirement he returned to South Skeenah were they lived until moving to their home on Tanasi Lane. Grady loved to garden and spend time working around the home with his wife. He also enjoyed going out to eat with his wife very much.

He was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he was a strong supporter of the Gideons. Mr. Kirkland is survived by his loving wife, Nell, of sixty three years. They were married on June 1, 1955.

He is also survived by two sisters Aileen Hodgins of Georgia and Epsie Blaine of Franklin; one brother, Jesse Kirkland of Mountain Home, Idaho. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Gladys Stamey and two brothers, Frank and William Thomas Kirkland.

A Funeral service will be held at Victory Baptist Church on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11:00am with Reverend Rusty Wolfrey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The nephews of Grady Kirkland will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service. Online condolences can be made at bryantgrantfuneralhome.com. Bryant Grant Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Kirkland family.
