Grigory Roytman June 25, 1937 – May 22, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Grigory Roytman passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2019. Grigory was born on June 25, 1937 in Odessa, Union the Soviet Socialist Republics. Son of Lev Moiseevich and Mila Grigorevna (Kachurovskaya) Roytman.

He is survived by brother Vladimir Roytman. He came to the United States in 1979. In 1967, Grigory received his diploma from the Pedagogical Institute in Odessa.

In 1983, he received his Master of Education in Curriculum and Teaching at Columbia University. Grigory went on to receive his Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Teaching at Columbia University in 1985. Grigory was a Bilingual Teacher at the Odessa Secondary School from 1968-1970.

He was an English Translator for Technology News Information in Moscow from 1970 to 1975 and again from 1977 to 1978. In 1975 he became an English Teacher for Moscow Secondary School until 1977. Grigory was also a Freelance Editor Technical Translations of Russian Journals at Allerton Press, Inc. in New York City from 1979 to 1980.

In 1982, He was a Field Consultant Office Ednl. Evaluation, New York City Board of Education. He went on to become a Consultant for the Jewish Ednl.

Svc. North America, Inc. in 1985. From 1986 to 1990 he was a Russian Language Instructor for the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California.

From 1990 to 1992 he was a Lecturer for the Russian Department Foreign Languages and Literature, Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. In 1990 Grigory was an Associate Professor at the Appalachian State University in Boone North Carolina until 1997. He also was a Lecturer on Acculturation and Identity of Russian Immigrants from 1985 to 1986.

Presenter Papers in Field. Grigory was a member of the Modern Language Association at Southern Atlantic Modern Language Association, American Association teachers Slavic and East European Languages. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM at the Congregation Sons of Jacob Cemetery, Westside Avenue, Haverstraw, NY on Friday, May 24, 2019.
