OBITUARY Harbans Kaur Sihota February 12, 1931 – September 24, 2018 Obituary Harbans Kaur Sihota February 12, 1931 – September 24, 2018 Harbans Kaur Sihota, of San Jose, California, gracefully lived her last years with Alzheimer’s Dementia. She died peacefully in Escondido, California, on Monday, September 24th, at the age of 87. Harbans was born in Jandiala, India, immigrated to Coventry, England, and immigrated again to San Jose, California.
Harbans was passionate about education, having earned her college degree and beginning her career as a teacher in India. She loved talking and laughing, and being in the company of others. Her personality was outgoing, and animated.
Regarding community service, Harbans spent many many years devoting her time to volunteer work at the San Jose Gurdwara/Temple. Married for 58 years, Harbans was preceded in death by her dedicated husband, Sarwan Singh Sihota, as well as her devoted brother Lachman Singh Jouhal. She is survived by her devoted sister and brother (Kulwant Kaur Samra and Teja Singh Jouhal, respectively).
Harbans is also survived by her four loving children, Kamaljit Sihota, Kalwant Bisla, Sukhdip Broome, and Sarbjit Sihota. She was further blessed with her many grandchildren, Gagandeep, Jasdeep, and Akam Sihota, Aaron and Kianna Bisla, and Evan and Nathan Broome. We now picture Harbans reconnecting with her life-long love, wearing a bright outfit, singing and laughing, while dancing the Giddah with her friends.
Please know, although not customary, it was Harbans’ wish to be dressed in bright and happy attire as she passed over. It speaks to her having been a woman with much personality, and grateful for the life that she lived.
