Obituary for Harold B Lucas (Lebanon) Harold B. Lucas, son of Gordon B. and Beatrice Emma Hardin Lucas, was born October 21, 1937, in Burgin, Kentucky. He departed this life Sunday, May 27, 2018, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, seven months, and six days. On August 19, 1957, in Sleeper, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Pearl Alice Blackburn, and to this union one daughter was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pearl, on January 8, 2018; a brother, Howard Ray Lucas; and a sister, Connie Keith. Harold is survived by a daughter, Verna Sherrer, and her husband, Douglas, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandsons, Joshua Sherrer, and Ryan Sherrer, both of Lebanon, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Tony, Emily, Mykayla, Kaitlin, Isaac, Kaleb, and Kassidy; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Kentucky and then moved with his family to Missouri when he was twelve years old.
In 1954, he made his home in Lebanon, where he met and married Pearl. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from November 10, 1955, until being honorably discharged on October 13, 1959. After he and Pearl were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their daughter.
Harold owned and operated Lucas Apco Service Station in Lebanon for fifteen years. He then worked as a service technician for Ozarks Coca-Cola Company for fifteen years. Harold had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime active member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher for eighteen years.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He also liked playing cards, Dominos and chess with family and friends. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandsons and great-grandchildren.
Harold was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a Christian man who created many wonderful memories for his family and friends. Memorial Donations to the Assistance Association for the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Fort Leonard Wood may be made through the funeral home.
