Harold E. Dannenberg, age 89, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 3:08 a.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Cedarhurst in Edwardsville. Harold was a retired customer engineer for IBM in St. Louis. Harold was born November 14, 1929, in Edwardsville the son of the late Alvin & Esther (Schaefer) Dannenberg.

He married Dolores H. Kettenhofen on August 29, 1953 in Troy, Illinois. Besides his wife Dolores he is survived by 4 sons, Robert L Dannenberg & Bonita of Edwardsville, William A. Dannenberg & wife Juy of Edwardsville, James A. Dannenberg & wife Jackie of Singapore, and Thomas L. Dannenberg & wife Deanna of Pearland, Texas; 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildraen, and 1 brother, Donald Dannenberg & wife Norma of Sherman, Texas. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Susan Dannenberg and a daughter-in-law, Susan Anderson Dannenberg.

Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Harold loved square dancing amd was a member of Hoedowners of Wood River. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and enjoyed wood working.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Services will follow at 7 p.m Thursday, at the funeral home with Fr. Rob Johnson officiating.

A private interment will be held Friday at the Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
