It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harold “Dutch” Shriver. Dad passed December 6, 2018. To summarize this man who was larger than life in a few paragraphs will not do him justice.

Born in 1929 he was born in Atwater and grew up in Ravenna. He was a standout football player for Ravenna High where he played for Harry Gilcrest. After high school he had an eclectic work history which included Lamb Electric, Standard Steel, Northfield and Thistledown racetracks.

He retired after 20+ years with ODOT. Dad had a love of sports, especially Ohio State. He loved high school wrestling, football and baseball.

He attended many North Akron Wrestling matches especially Walsh Jesuit. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Goldie and 6 children, Dan (Jan), Cindy (Robert), Jerry, Mechele, Perry, Tracy. He also leaves 3 grandchildren, J.D, (Mary), Erica, Daniel and 5 great-grandchildren.

We have to mention Dad’s love of politics, his fighting spirit and his love of family. He never met a stranger and he always tried to help the underdog. We will miss his jokes and wonderful smile and that distinct whistle that soothed the soul.

Our world is a little less bright without this exceptional light in our lives. There will be no calling hours. A funerall service will be held to celebrate his life at Grace Episcopal Church on Tuesday 10 am.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church. Save us a seat in the bleachers Dad!

We love you!
