Harold E. Hill Sr. 79 of Boaz passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at Marshall Medical Center South after a long and valiant battle against cancer with his family by his bed side. He was an active member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years, where he enjoyed being the cemetery groundskeeper. Mr. Hill was a member of the Boaz Masonic Lodge where he was pinned as a lifetime member.

He was a founding member of the Mountainboro Volunteer Fire Department where he mortgaged his on personal truck to purchase the first fire truck for the department. Mr. Hill was very active in his community where he took great joy in watching the many players his son coached over the years and the athletes and friends of his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening and doing yard work.

A father, husband, granddaddy and friend; he will be missed by all who knew him. A special thanks to our church family, neighbors, staff of Marshall Medical Centers, Dr. Gideon Ewing and Staff, Dr. Peters and Staff and Gadsden Regional Home health Nurse Dianne. His Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2109 at Etowah Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 until 5 Sunday at the funeral home. Bro. Justin Smith, Bro.

Kenneth Lasseter and Bro. Gary Ford will officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Garmany, Butch Garmany, Danny Morton, Jody Hopper, Kevin Roberson and Tim Hubbard.

Hill, Daughter; Renae Hicks (Robby Beam), Son; Gene Hill (Jerri Lynn), Grandson; Taylor Hicks, Granddaughters; Hailey and Hannah Hill, Sister; Linda Manuel (Junior), Sister-in-law; Debbie Hill, many special nieces, nephews and cousins, Uncles; Gene Roberson (Dot), Travis Roberson, Brother-in-law; John Hubbard (Barbara), Sisters-in-law; Jeanette Garmany, Faye Campbell, Mary Morton, Special little buddies; Colt and Anna Wallace, He is preceded in death by his parents; R.E. and Lois Hill, Brothers; Dennie, Edward and Gerald Hill, Sister; Christine Burgess, Janice Gillilan, Gail Delaurier.
