Harold L. Newsom, age 82, of Fairgrove, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City, Michigan. Born on March 3, 1937 in Bono, Arkansas, he was the son of Jefferson and Ruth (Gill) Newsom. On August 25, 1956 he married Barbara Briese in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waltz, MI.

In 1985 Harold helped start a machine shop in Lapeer called Allsons, named after his four boys. It is still family owned and ran by his son. He was employed with Pepsi Cola Company as a Vending Machine Repairman until retiring in 1995.

Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting and farming his 20 acres. During the winter he and Barbara traveled to Florida. They had traveled to Alaska on 3 different occasions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Douglas and grandson Bradley. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Newsom of Fairgrove; sons Jim (Maxine) Newsom of Columbiaville, MI, Donald (Lora) Newsom of Ortonville, MI, Mark Newsom of Clarkston, MI and Brett (Jody) Newsom of Webberville, MI; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother Raymond Newsom of Vandilia, IL; sisters Bessie Miller of TX and Mary Kruger of MO. Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home Flat Rock Chapel on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 pm. Rev. Enwood Nevis of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, Otisville, MI will officiate the service.

Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Michigan Cancer Society www. cancer.org.
