Harold Lee Chavis, Sr., Age 79, of Cameron, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at home, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Harold was born in Robeson County to Cloyd and Sarah Margaret Chavis. He touched the lives of many people with his contagious smile and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, Tina Denson and husband David of Sanford, Harold Chavis, Jr of Cameron, David Chavis and wife Kay of Sanford; sisters, Louise Hammond of Virginia, Mattie Pearl Oxendine of Aberdeen; brothers, Bracey Chavis of Vass and Bobby Chavis of California; grandchildren, Chance, Dillon and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd and Sarah Margaret Chavis; daughter, Crystal Chavis; son, Zemie Chavis; sister, Annie Sue Sleigh; brothers, Billy, Junior, Mitchell and Ted Chavis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harold Chavis Memorial Fund, c/o Cox Memorial Funeral Home, P O Box 651 Vass NC 28394.
