Harriette M. Sharpe Spring Hill, FL. Harriette M. Sharpe, a Timber Pines Resident, passed away after a valiant battle with metastatic breast cancer on January 13, 2019. She lived her faith, loved her family, cherished her friends, and cultivated her flowers.

Born in Hickory, NC on June 16, 1942, her parents, Harry and Nettie Miller, and only sibling, Linda M. Setzler, preceded her in death. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Ray Sharpe, two daughters Suzy (Ben) Kelley, and Sandy (Derek) West and four wonderful grandchildren whom she adored; Hannah, Allie, Griffin, and Alexandra; as well as one niece and two nephews. She epitomized the phrase “People Who Need People Are the Luckiest People in the World”.

She was a lady in the true sense of the word and a friend to all. Her skill as a gardener was widely acclaimed as she beautified every community where she resided. She graduated from Newton-Conover High School; Lees-McRae College where she was a member of the Academic Honor Society Alpha Chi; and graduated from the North Carolina Baptist Hospital’s School of Library Science.

She was an RHIA, Registered Health Information Administrator and employed at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Northern Virginia Orthopaedic & Allied Specialties Clinic, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, and Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. She enjoyed golf and scored two holes in one. Her major passion was gardening and she routinely had beautiful flowers to brighten her neighborhoods.

Blessed with the opportunity to explore new horizons, she enjoyed living in Key West, FL; Newport, RI; Norfolk, VA; Tokyo, Japan; Monterey, CA; Long Beach, CA; Montgomery, AL; Alexandria, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Southern Shores, NC; and ultimately Spring Hill, FL. She particularly enjoyed ocean cruises with her husband and visiting Europe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill, 9344 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34608-6355.

A celebration of Harriette’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill on a date to be determined. The Sharpe Family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Downing Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Spring Hill, www.
