Obituary for Harry E. McCracken Harry E. McCracken, 95, a longtime resident of Penn Township, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Walden’s View Personal Care Home. He was born May 16, 1922 in Westmoreland City a son of the late Frank and Cora M. (Dullinger) McCracken and was also preceded in death by his wife Doris M. (Dudley) McCracken, a daughter Susan Lynn McCracken, and fifteen siblings. Harry was a WWII Army veteran serving as a medic in the 99th Infantry Division and was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient.

He retired as a foreman for Westinghouse Electric Corp. , East Pittsburgh. He was past president of the 99th Inf.

Div. reunion committee, a member and former chief of Westmoreland City VFD, a life member of Penn Township Rescue 6, served on the Penn Township Youth Commission, was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the former Jeannette District Memorial Hospital, was a Medicare counsellor thru the Apprise program, and received the Jefferson Award for volunteerism. He was a member of Norwin Christian Church, North Huntingdon.

Surviving are his children Sharon L. (William) Bone of North Huntingdon, Virginia McCracken Stump of Westmoreland City, and Daniel (Pamela) McCracken of Manor; his grandchildren Penny Toniolo, William Bone III, Christopher (Jacklyn) McCracken, and Jamie (Christopher) Weary; his great grandchildren Alexandra, Jacob, Emma, Jaxson, Megan, Conlan, and Abigail; also many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Erwin, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery.
