Obituary for Harry J. Carl Jr. Print It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Harry J. Carl, Jr., 93, on Sunday October 28, 2018. Harry grew up in Fulton and Oswego, graduated from Oswego High School in 1942, then enlisted in the Army. Upon honorable discharge, like so many of his generation, he enrolled in college on the GI Bill and was forever grateful to his country.

He graduated from Rider College in Trenton, NJ with a degree in Accounting and returned to Syracuse to work at Easy Washer. There he met Regina Trendowski who became the love of his life and they married on August 23, 1952. Harry’s career transitioned to the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) at GE where he advanced to General Auditor, running the Syracuse and Utica offices.

He retired in 1981. Harry was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale for more than 60 years. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus where he was once honored with “Knight of the Year”.

Harry was widely known for his sense of humor and joy in telling a good story. He made sure that every family gathering ended in either a game of pitch or scrabble. Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Regina, who died February 18, 2014, by his parents Harry, Sr. and Margaret Burns Carl, brother Joseph and sister Mary Ellen Sullivan.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Wendy Carl Isome and son-in-law, Rich Isome of Baldwinsville, along with several nieces and nephews, “Care Friends” Anne Nicholson and Kate Adams. Friends may call on Thursday from 3 – 6 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Friday, 10 AM at St. Margaret’s Church.
