Obituary for Hazel Lucy Parks Hazel L. Woodruff Parks passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on May 22, 2018 at the age of 100 years old. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Hazel Lucy Woodruff Parks was born June 7, 1917 in Weatherford, Texas to Milton and Katherine Woodruff.

From the beginning, Hazel was a happy, talkative, active child that loved life and those around her. She attended and completed her education at Our Lady of Victory (OLV) in Fort Worth, Texas. After school, due to her talent as an acrobat, she trained to be an acrobatic dancer and performed at different venues in the area.

One of the best known venues was the Hippodrome Theater in downtown Fort Worth. She also had a day job at Dickies Manufacturing in Fort Worth where she worked until marriage. After her marriage to Edmond Evans, and giving birth to her two daughters, she became a full-time mom and homemaker.

After her daughters started school, she returned to the working field. She was a very attractive, classy lady that became top salesman and buyer in the fine Ladies Department in larger department stores in Wichita Falls and Fort Worth. In 1964, she was hired as dental assistant/office manager in the dental office of Dr. Alan Bishop of Arlington, Texas where she worked until she retired.

She always said that was her dream job. Not only did she love her job, but she loved the Bishop family and considered them her family as well. On August 19, 1969, she married William C. Parks, the love of her life.

They were married 20 wonderful years before his passing in 1989. They did a lot of traveling during those years and enjoyed life to the fullest. Hazel continued to live life to the fullest, traveling with her daughters and friends.

Her later years has been spent at Ashwood Assisted living where she continued to be a joy and delight. She loved everyone and they loved her. Hazel will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Her love and memory will carry on through her daughters, family and friends that she touched and loved. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William C. Parks; brother, Jack Woodruff; Edmond Evans (father of her two daughter); half-brother and sister; and step brother and sister. Survivors: Daughters, Eddith (Edie) Evans Heifner and Jeannene Evans Thomas Evans; grandchildren, Tammy Heifner Gilmore (Brad), Cindy Heifner LaCourse (Mark), Richard Thomas (Sarah), Stephens Thomas (Dawn) and Cheryl Bentley Thomas; great-grandchildren, Michael LaCourse, Taylor LaCourse, Brook Thomas Stewart, Alex Bentley; two great-great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Bentley and Livia LaCourse; one sister, Wilma Ware; and two nieces, Judy Goble and Jan Warwick.
