Obituary for Helen B. Hummel (Michalski) Print Helen B. Hummel passed away on January 29, 2019. She was 89. Born February 8, 1929 in Minersville, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Pauline Novitsky Michalski, Helen graduated from Minersville High School where she served as Treasurer and “class wit” of the Class of 1946.

She went on to follow her ambition of becoming a “Woman in White” by graduating from Jefferson College Training Hospital for Nurses in 1950. She was stationed at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas where she served as Second Lieutenant during the Korean War. She married Harold Hummel on February 26, 1955.

She worked as a nurse for many years at Rolling Hill Hospital and Jefferson Hospital. Helen is predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold, and her five siblings. She is survived by her three children: Glenn (Susan) of Lafayette Hill, Gary (Kiki) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Carol (Gary) VanBuskirk of Warminster as well as her niece Lorraine Honora Malatesta (Paul Greis) of Allentown.

She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Robert (Lisa Li) Hummel, Bethany (Ryan) Berger, Mike (Stephanie) Hummel, Chris Hummel, Maxwell Hummel and Kurt Hummel. The family would like to thank the staff of Arden Courts Memory Care. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Warminster Township Free Library, 1076 Emma Lane, Warminster, PA 18974.
