Johnson, age 95, of Osage, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Osage Rehabilitation and Heath Care Center in Osage. Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Helen was born July 9, 1923, in Mitchell County, daughter of Mex and Sue (Shields) Johnson. She attended and graduated from Charles City High School 1941. On March 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Merle P. Johnson at United Church of Christ in Osage.

The couple farmed on the family farm, that achieved Century Status in 2011. Helen worked at Osage Schools as a cook, Fisk’s Happy Acres and the Osage Library. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Helen enjoyed gardening. Helen is survived by her son, Mark Johnson; and her daughter, Karen (Al) Damjanovic. She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Merle in 1980; and brother, Clyde Johnson in 1991.
