Helen Elizabeth Bowden, age 81 of Wellsville passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at her home. Graveside services will be 11AM, Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on 68 H-way, rural Wellsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.

Helen E. Bowden was born November 23, 1936 in Jackson County, Missouri, the daughter of Roy and Zella E. (Finch) Vaughn. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and on May 3, 1953 she married Robert E. Bowden. They… Read More » were married 55 years before his passing on May 20, 2008.

Helen was a homemaker all of her life. She was an accomplished artist and loved carving and painting. She adored her dogs, Shorty and Betsy and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Helen is survived by her children: Shirley and James Wiles of Silver City, NM; Carried and Bob Scott of Wellsville; Mary and Ron Franks of Spring Hill; Connie Westgate of Wellsville; Robert Bowden of Wellsville; daughter-in-law, Holly Bowden of Ottawa; brother, Carl Vaughn of Wellsville; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert, Howard and Edward Vaughn; sons, Arthel Wayne (2006) and Kenneth Earl (2012); and one grandson, Joshua Bowden (1985).
