Helen (Haggerty) Perkins, 94, of Mansfield Center, passed away on May 18, 2019 peacefully. She was born in Willimantic, daughter of the late Patrick and Leona (Lord) Haggerty. Helen went to Windham Highschool and graduated from Bay Path Jr. College.

She worked at the University of Connecticut and Electro-Motive prior to her career in the U.S. Postal Service. She proudly retired as Postmaster of the South Windham post office in 1988. Helen and her husband Herb enjoyed traveling all over the world and frequently visited friends in Florida.

Helen loved gardening, dancing, music, and decorating for Christmas. Helen and Herb loved spending time with friends, family, and most of all their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Herbert H. Perkins, two sons; Mark H. Perkins Sr. and partner Virginia Siniscalco, Herbert Scott Perkins and his wife Carol, six grandchildren; Tabitha Perkins, Mark Perkins Jr. and his wife Kathy, Brandon Perkins and his wife Mandy, Jeremy Perkins and his wife Melissa, and Ryan Perkins, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

Helen was predeceased by a son, Craig P. Perkins, two sisters Olive and Mary, and a grandson James Perkins. There are no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd S #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
