Helen M. Hagan, 89, of Hagantown, near Parker, went home to be with her Lord and her husband on Sunday, December 9, 2018 while at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler following a short period of declining health. Born in Perryville, Clarion County, on November 3, 1929, Helen was the daughter of the late Virgil Sr. and Sarah May Jordan Frantz. She married Robert Hagan on January 2, 1951 at the Callensburg Methodist parsonage.

Mr. Hagan preceded her in death on December 14, 1982. After his passing, Helen enrolled and graduated from Butler Beauty School and had owned and operated her own beauty salon. Helen was Methodist by faith and attended the Perryville Methodist Church until her health failed.

She enjoyed knitting scarves and sweaters, baking and decorating cakes, and most especially attending bible study. Surviving are her children, Michael Hagan and his wife, Lorraine, of Valparaiso, IN, William Hagan and his wife, Connie, of Harrisville, Dennis and Melissa Hagan of Knox, Jane Switzer of Hagantown, Marcie Pennington and her husband, Walter, of Parker, and Craig and Jodie Hagan of Dutch Hill; a sister, Martha Guntrum, of Fordland, MO; a sister-in-law, Dottie Frantz; 12 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Piestrack and her husband, John; a brother, Virgil Frantz Jr. and his wife, Kay; a brother-in-law, Alby Hagan and his wife, Pat; a nephew, Jeffrey Hagan and his wife, Catherine; a daughter-in-law, Pam Hagan; a son-in-law, Edward Switzer, a grandchild and two great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday at the Perryville United Methodist church from 10 – 11:00. A funeral service will follow from the church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes, a United Methodist pastor, officiating.
