Bennettsville, SC Mrs. Helen Haney Freeman passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Dundee Manor in Bennettsville. She was 83 years old. Born January 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Addie Carver Haney.

She was a retired secretary with Delta Mills. Helen was a member of the Bennettsville Church of God and attended church every time the doors opened. She loved the Lord and her church family.

She had the heart of a servant and loved taking care of others. She loved spending time with friends and family and feeding everyone. She refused to let anyone leave her house hungry.

In her spare time, Helen also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Dr. Phil, and gardening. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughters, Agnes Freeman Sturdivant of McColl, Bobbie Jean Freeman Davis (Kenny) of Hope Mills, Sandra Freeman Patterson of Hope Mills, and her special granddaughter, Wendy Odom (Chris) of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Matt Patterson, T.J. Hayes, Hubert Chavis, Jr., Becky Chavis Jones, Genevieve Chavis Fairchild, Sherry Bundy, and John Freeman, III; 17 great-grandchildren, including special great-grands, Bradley and Andrew Odom; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents listed above; husband, John Lite Freeman Sr.; son, John Lite Freeman, Jr.; daughter, Linda Freeman Chavis; and brother, William “Bunk” Haney.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.
