In Loving Memory Helen Nadine Horn Helen was born on December 4, 2916 in Blunt, South Dakota to Paul Ackman and Grace (Klute) Ackman. She grew up and attended school in Westbrook, Minnesota where her parents farmed. As a young lady, she enjoyed riding horses bare back, and often recalled experiences working at the “corner store”.

She met her mate and partner, Elmer Robert (Bob) Horn in high school, and married him on October 19, 1947. They operated a family farm outside of Fulda, Minnesota, and were blessed with three children. She was an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, participating in many activities and held numerous leadership roles.

Her primary focus and highest priority was her Lord, and her family, dedicating herself in service to Him as wife and mother. She played an active hands-on role on the farm, working along-side Bob in the fields and with the livestock. Her garden prospered, and the fruit cellar was always full.

She supported the varied interest of her children in music and sports, rarely missing a performance or sporting event. As her family matured, she focused on nurturing her own artistic gifts. She enjoyed and excelled in sewing, ceramics, crocheting, and painting.

Bob and Helen ultimately retired from farming and moved into a new home in Fulda in 1991. When Bob suffered a debilitating stroke in 2001, she devoted her life to his care, her patient dedication affirming a life-long love. Her own failing health precipitated the couples move closer to family near Duluth, Minnesota in 2004.

They remained together until Bob’s death in August of 2015. Helen entered the Maple Lawn Nursing in Fulda in October of 2015 and passed away there on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the age of 92. Helen was never one to complain, striving to find joy in every situation.

She treasured the promise of heaven, and we rejoice together in her new dwelling as we await the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
