OBITUARY Helen Louise Elliott June 3, 1926 – January 3, 2019 Helen Louise Strickland Elliott went to see God’s face and ask him some questions on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Helen was born June 3, 1926, in Phenix City, Alabama, and was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class, and Young At Heart. She graduated from Central High School in 1944.

After marrying and raising a family, she returned to school and graduated from Phenix City School of Nursing. She had a rewarding career as a nurse, finding her calling working with geriatric patients in area nursing homes. Helen always wore her starched white uniform and nurse’s cap with pride.

She loved all of her family very much and always took lots of pleasure in visits with them. She loved God and knew he loved her. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee, listening to music, reading, doing word find puzzles, taking walks in the woods, and sitting on the porch just watching nature.

During a full moon she would pull her curtains aside to lie in the moonlight. She always said she lived in the best time there was to live. She would tell stories about the depression, being a high schooler and then new wife during WWII, the ice wagon delivering ice to her home, traveling down home in a rumble seat, and being a toddler when Phenix City flooded.

Helen lived here when Phenix City was “bad” and remembered the clean-up. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Campbell Strickland; brothers, OK, Luther, and FD Strickland; sisters Maggie Randall, Kathryn Massey, and Carrie King; and her former husband Arthur F. Elliott, Sr She is survived by her sons A. Fort Elliott, Jr. (Dillie), Samuel H. “Bo Bo” Elliott, Michael S. Elliott (Naomi), and her daughter Jo Anne Strickland (Charles); 11 grandchildren: David Elliott, Ben Elliott (Kimberly), Amy Elliott Enfinger (Ladon), Eric Elliott (Candy), Mary Elliott, Trixie Elliott, Lee Anna Elliott, Steve Elliott (Holly), Lynn Elliott Gaither (David), Jill Strickland Frawley (Jason), and Candice Strickland; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and her sister Martha Vang.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church, Phenix City, Alabama. The funeral will be at 2:00 PM at this same location. Burial will be at this location, but on a different day due to wet conditions.
