Obituary for Helen Louise Woods Alterman, Helen Louise (Heloise) Woods, returned to her Lord on October 3, 2018. Born in Manhattan, NYC. She was a long time Coconut Grove resident and a graduate of University of Miami (AB) and St. Thomas University (MS).

One of the first Certified Lay Professionals in the Lutheran Church of America, she served at St. Mark’s in Coral Gables for over fifteen years. Following, she then joined the fledgling Sunglass Hut Corporation in marketing and remained with them until her retirement. Formerly married to the late Sidney Alterman, founder of Alterman Transport Lines, she is survived by their son, Joseph Alterman, step-sons Richard and Brian Alterman, (predeceased by step-son Johnny Alterman) and fifth son Carlos Ballester.

Also by cousins Lynn Lonergan, Russell Walker, Edward Farrell and their families. Memorial services to be determined. Interment at Cemetery of the Evergreens in NYC.
