Helen’s Obituary (Nee Davis) Born to Eternal Life December 24, 2018, age 92. Beloved wife of late husbands Joseph Mueller (39 yrs. ) and Joseph Hauser (17 yrs.

). Loving mother of JoEllen (Fernando) Christians, Mary (Patrick) Kelly, and Carl (Lori) Mueller. Loving stepmother of Patricia (Dan) Kroeger, Michael Hauser, Joseph Hauser, Lee (Deborah) Hauser, Margaret (Leigh) Ullman, Mary Beth Hauser, Ronald Anderson, John (Julie) Hauser, Susan (David) Miles, Catherine (Brian) Troyer, and Stephanie (Matthew) Staub.

She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, siblings Elaine Bailey and Kenneth (Gail) Davis, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Helen was born January 17, 1926 in Mediapolis, Iowa to Carl and Amanda (Nelson) Davis. She was the fifth of six children.

She was pre-deceased by Martha (Arthur) Sternberg, Donald (Anne) Davis, Edith (Daniel Kelly, Hugh Myers) Myers, and brothers-in-law David Rogers and Russell Bailey. She was very proud that she grew up on a farm and often shared stories of her early life there. She was also proud of her 91% Swedish heritage, verified by an Ancestry DNA test.

Helen graduated from Huron High School and earned a degree in business education from Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa). She was a substitute teacher for Milwaukee Public Schools and also taught business courses at Patricia Stevens Career College and Prospect Hall Secretarial School. She felt great satisfaction when using her organizational skills as a secretary at Midland Glass Company and, finally, as an administrative assistant in fund development at the office of the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast.

She felt very fortunate to be loved by her two “Joes”. With Joe Mueller, she created a family and raised three children. With Joe Hauser, she found love again and expanded her family.

Being surrounded by these families filled her heart with joy. She loved them all dearly. Her strong faith sustained her throughout her life.

She was a charter member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church (now Blessed Savior) for almost 60 years. She volunteered in many activities, including as president of Christian Mothers and, later, of Young at Heart. She believed that being kind, listening, and caring about others was the way to live a blessed life.

In later years, Helen developed a love and talent for painting. She shared that interest with friends, Elaine Sathe and Jeannette Lammi, who came to her condo for Saturday morning painting sessions each week. Helen’s family is grateful to the staff at Froedtert Hospital in the Neuro-ICU and 5NW care units, as well as the staff at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus, for their care of Helen in her last days.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at BLESSED SAVIOR CATHOLIC CHURCH (8545 W. Villard Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53225) from 9AM – 11AM, with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 AM. Private entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blessed Savior to support the choir.
