Helen Wojcik Thompson age 66 of Monroe, Ga was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 9, 2018. Helen was born September 5, 1951 in Atlanta, GA to Theodore and Mary Ann Wojcik. She was a resident of Walton County where she resided with her husband Lyman.

Helen is survived by her husband of 44 years Lyman Thompson, her daughter Jessica Preston, and her grandchildren Rebekah and Patrick Preston. Helen was blessed with a large and loving family. She leaves behind her siblings Mary Rose (Don), Paul, John (Linda), Tommy (Susan), Greg (Jan), Charlie (Elizabeth), Jessie (John), Jimmy (Ava), Michael (Jill), and Judy (Joe).

She will be deeply missed by her father-in-law Lyman Thompson, Sr. and her sisters-in-law Becky (Richard) and Ava (Jimmy). To her nieces and nephews and countless others, she was Hommy, a loving, giving person whose compassion knew no bounds. Helen and Lyman have been long-time members of St. Anna’s Catholic Church in Monroe, GA.

Helen was an educator for 34 years, 28 of which she spent at Loganville High School as the art teacher. She was an inspiration to her students, not just in fostering their creative talents but in supporting and shaping them in their paths towards adulthood. Helen loved gardening and found much peace in working in her beautiful flower gardens.

Helen was the epitome was Matthew 25:35-36. “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me”. Her selfless devotion and loving kindness will be missed by all.

For those wanting to offer their condolences to her family, there will be a visitation on Wednesday, June 13th from 6 to 8 pm at St. Anna’s Catholic Church in Monroe, GA. Her funeral mass will be Thursday, June 14th at 11 am at St. Anna’s. Helen will be laid to rest at Honey Creek Woodlands Cemetery at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA.

Because Helen dedicated so much of her life to art education, the family asks that in lieu of flowers people are welcome to make a donation towards a memorial scholarship to be given in her honor. Donations may be made at www. helenthompsonartscholarship.com .
