HELENE MASON was born on August 12, 1954 to the late William Sr. and Elizabeth Wright in Buffalo, New York. On August 16, 1975, Helene married the love of her life, Doran Mason Sr.; to this union were three children, Doran Jr, Delphine, and Tamika. Helene was gainfully employed by Buffalo Board of Education for over 20 years, retiring due to injury.

Helene lived her life fully through simple pleasures and enjoyed her family more than anything. She often held gatherings for family and friends and each time, commemorated these events with photos. Helene had a remarkable sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Through her pains and struggles, she found a way to smile and make others laugh. She displayed phenomenal strength during her fight (with the attitude to match). She did what she wanted to do, when she wanted to do it.

Then there was that gentle side of her with the HUGE heart who would give her last if you were in need. No matter what, Helene never forgot a birthday. She would gather family and friends to celebrate and if the weather or her health did not permit a BBQ, you would surely get a card in the mail.

On May 17, 2019, Helene received the greatest gift of eternal peace; she was called from earthly labors to heavenly reward. Helene will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Helene’s precious memories are cherished by her children, Doran Jr., Delphine and Tamika, sisters, Elizabeth, Patricia (James), Mary, Jackie (Gregory), and Diane; one brother, Donald; 16 grandchildren, Ameenah, Doran Jr II, Tamedrea, Da’Quan, Venecia, Savion, Da’Moni, Kennedi, Kayla, Nicole, J’Vante, Darrius, Gabrielle, Tamar, Amari, and London; five great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Helene is preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Doran Mason, Sr.; and three brothers, Anthony, Akbar and Douglas. Family will receive friends Friday, May 24, 2019, 11am at Providence Memorial Chapels, 1275 Sycamore St. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Interment at St. John’s Cemetery-Cheektowaga.
