Surviving a difficult childhood during WWII, Helga managed to emerge and obtain a job with Mercedes Benz where she met a young American soldier, Bill, who brought her to the United States to be married. Alecia Sweigart, Gary Hutsler Jr., and Brittany Hutsler; and seven great grandchildren: Zoey, Brielle, Landon, Hunter, Clark, Teddy, and Riley. Helga truly enjoyed life!

Extremely independent and strong-willed, Helga found great strength in her German heritage and instilled those qualities in her three sons. Upon retirement, she enjoyed being outdoors, cooking, and sharing cocktails with family and friends.

She was a member of the Coraopolis VFW Post 402 Ladies Auxiliary, of whom she considered many of the members as her family.
