Henry ‘Hank’ E. Sanderson, age 96, of Washington Court House, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Born in Ross County on December 9, 1922, he was the son of Henry E. and Jessie Rittenhouse Sanderson. Hank is survived by his wife, Arlene Savin Sanderson.

The two were united in marriage on September 15, 1983. Hank served in the Army during World War II. He was a paratrooper and a medic, having received a Purple Heart for his heroic efforts.

Later, was a bus driver for Long Beach City Transit in California. Hank then worked as a farmer, did brick masonry, and owned Hank’s Hash House restaurant in Sabina. He enjoyed attending Walnut Hill and Anchor Baptist Church.

A lover of horses, Hank could be found puttering around tinkering and building just about anything, visiting his friends and family, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed being outside, whether it was mowing or gardening, he was content outdoors. Hank lived by the motto “It’s all going to be ok!

” In addition to his wife, Hank is survived by daughters: Jackie Fraley of Columbus, Gina Oliver and Sherry (Roger) Asch, both of Sabina, and Victoria Luna of Washington Court House; along with son, Henry ‘Sandy’ Sanderson of Jeffersonville. Also left to cherish his memory are fifteen grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, a sister, Erma Welch of Greenfield, and his beloved cat, Cutie. Hank was preceded in death by two grandsons: Steve Fraley and Guillermo De La Cruz; and seven siblings.

Memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Family will receive friends, at Littleton Funeral Home, on Monday, May 13, 2019, from 11-12:30pm, when a funeral service will begin. Burial, with Military Honors, to follow at Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery.
