Henry Shaw Cowan, Jr., 92, passed away on November 30, 2018. Beloved husband of 67 years to Rose Marie Cowan; devoted father of Henry Cowan III (Carol), James Cowan, Ann Marie Norton (David) and Robert Cowan (Sue Watson); loving grandchildren Katie Nixon (Oliver), Lizzy Mourges (Brandon), Sarah Gourley (Brent) and Joe Norton (Salina); dear great-grandchildren Conor, Orla, Jordan, Phoenix, Emma, Kylie, Umar and Maryam. Henry was born on January 31,1926 in Pennsylvania and passed away on November 30, 2018 in Pasadena, Maryland.

Henry was a graduate of The Baltimore Polytechnic Institute before joining the military where proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Eurpoean, African and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and The Combat Infantry Badge. He served from 1944 until 1946.

Henry was also involved with the local American Legion and the Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club. He was a long time member of the Day Spring Presbyterian Church in Glen Burnie. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking, cooking, making things with his hands and most of all spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by all. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to your favorite charity in the name of Henry S. Cowan, Jr. Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Sunday December 2, 2018 from 5-7 PM and also on Monday December 3, 2018 from 10-11 AM. At which time a funeral service will be held.

Interment Private.
