Herbert “Russell” Coker Russell Coker, age 81, of Moreland passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home. He was born on June 3, 1937 in Thomaston, GA to the late Roscoe and Una Coker. At the age of 17, he convinced his parents to let him join the U.S. Navy.

After his time of serving he then went on to work for Coca-Cola and Pepsi as an appliance repairman. He was a kind, loving man who appreciated time with his family and enjoying fishing and the great outdoors. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Inez Coker, a son, Russell “Gene” Coker, and his siblings: Lillian, Geneva, Claudie Mae, and Ruby.

He is survived by his children; Nancy (Anthon) Stickland, Ricky Coker, and Randy (Brenda) Coker; grandchildren, Tina (Al) Elvins, Chris (Sara) Adkinson, LeAnn Strickland, Anthony (Jill) Coker, Andrew (Jennifer) Coker, Richie (Crystal) Coker, Michael Coker, Tobie (Tabatha) Coker, Jessica (Sterling) Trask, Daron (Anthony) Cobb, Mark Coker, Lonnie (Bonnie) Coker, Melissa Coker, Keith (Ariel) Coker, and Bridget (Cliff) Mathis. He also leaves behind 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the First Baptist Church of Moreland with Rev.

Todd Slade officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Southview Cemetery in Moreland with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. Friends may visit the family on Saturday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Russell’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Moreland (P.O. Box 135 Moreland,GA 30259). Condolences may be made to the family at www. mckoon.com.
