Obituary for Howard “Red” Robertson Harold Leslie Robertson of O’Brien, Oregon, died on June 2. He was almost 98 years old. The third of five children, he was born on the Experimental Farm outside Prosser, Washington in 1920 to Leslie and Inez Robertson.

Harold served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater as radioman and sharpshooter. At the end of his tour of duty in 1946, he met his future wife Rose, who was also a Marine. Harold and Rose lived in many western states as they raised their two sons.

Harold was an electronics engineer in the early TV industry in manufacturing and service. He worked for Packard-Bell, Teledyne, and Mitsubishi. Upon retirement, Harold and Rose traveled to all seven continents.

Harold enjoyed lapidary work and making jewelry. He was also an avid ham radio operator. Harold was a devoted and active member of Clan Donnachaidh Society in Washington and California, participating in and planning many Highland Games and clan “doings”.

Harold was President of the Illinois Valley Senior Center, and was instrumental in the construction of the current IV Senior Center facility. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Rose, his son Don, and also by three of his siblings. Later in life Harold reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Bettie, and moved to Camas, Washington.

Harold is survived by his son Gordon and his daughter-in-law Jean, of O’Brien, Oregon. He is also survived by his 101-year old sister Lila Trammel of Camas, Washington. He leaves behind a large extended family who are the richer for having him in their clan.

There are no services planned at Harold’s request. He will be missed by those who loved him and enjoyed his wry Scottish sense of humor.
