Howard Williams February 28, 1934 – December 18, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Howard Williams, 84, of Pampa passed away Tuesday December 18, 2018 in Amarillo. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Richard Bartell, associate pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by Pampa VFW Post #1657. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Howard was born on February 28, 1934 in Pampa and was a 1952 graduate of Fox High School in Fox, Oklahoma.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army, from November 2, 1961 until his honorable discharge on August 8, 1964. He was stationed in Germany as a telegraph operator. Howard married Patricia Forkner on Oct 14, 1960 in Pampa.

She preceded him in death on March 4, 2011. He was an iron worker, building missile silos, in North Dakota and briefly worked for Cabot Carbon Black in Pampa. In the late 1960’s he opened the Conoco station located at the four corners of Highways 60 and 70.

Later, he owned and operated Williams Welding and Pump Service for many years until the oilfield lull. At that time, he started servicing and replacing exhaust systems and mufflers. He was a member of the Pampa Moose Lodge #1385.

He collected coins and loved playing cards. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Schaffer of Amarillo; his son Randy Williams and wife Pattie of Springtown; his brother, Ralph Quinton Williams and wife Roselind of Houston; his sisters-in-law, Rhonda Hunt and husband Jim of Pampa and Nellie Williams of Amarillo, five grandchildren, Brandon Schaffer and wife Victoria of Lubbock, Machelle Noyes and husband Brad, and Morgan Schaffer, all of Amarillo, James Drew Williams of Waco and Ashley Rose Williams of Brooklyn, New York; five great grandchildren, TaeLynn, BayLynn, and Loklyn Schaffer, and Jaiden Lightsey all of Lubbock, and Addison Noyes of Amarillo. There will be a visitation on Friday December 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
