Ida “Karen” Dockery Green, born August 25, 1965, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. After attending Dunbar High School, Ida developed a strong work ethic and worked many hours in the service industry, including as a nursing or personal care assistant for several years up until her recent illness. When not working, Ida loved being at home.

An excellent cook, she would often invite ones over to eat or “get a plate”. When not cooking up a storm, Ida loved also to redecorate or renovate every room in the house. An avid shopper, especially of thrift stores, Ida had a knack for finding great bargains which was the envy of some of her family and friends.

Although she never had children, Ida was like a second “mom” or “granny” to many of her family. A generous, free-hearted and sometimes feisty spirited woman, she would always try to make sure all who needed assistance or help, got it. Above all, Ida was a spiritual woman.

She was a reader of the Bible and knew how to call on the true God in prayer. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, James Green Jr. and step grandmother, Mae Nell Green; grandmother, Alease Green; grandfather, L.D. Maddox; grandmother, Hilda Chatman and step grandfather, Romeo Chatman; aunt, Sandra Zellars; uncle, Lee Maddox and aunt, Virginia Maddox; uncle, LeDon Maddox. She is survived by her parents, Betty Green and Kenneth Green; siblings, Kimberly (John) Alston, Tammy Green, Tracey Green, William Green; fiancé, Melvin Avery; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Dr. Chad White officiating.

Visitation 9 am at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Jeffersonview Cemetery.
