Ida Mae Caldwell August 28, 1930 – May 11, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Ida Mae Flake peacefully slipped into her eternal rest, at the age of 88, in the early morning of Saturday, May 11, 2019 at CMC Northeast Medical Hospital, Concord, NC. Ida was born August 28, 1930 in Cabarrus County to the late Ida Lee Hunter Flake and Henry Flake, Sr. in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Ida was the 3rd oldest of 8 children.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Henry Caldwell, Sr.; her son, Willie James Flake; Five brothers Johnny Flake and William Thomas Flake Sr., Gene Flake Sr., Charles Flake Sr. and Henry Flake. Jr. Ida was educated in the public-school system of Cabarrus County. She retired from Coltrane Webb Elementary School as a custodian.

In 1945 Ida met the love of her life, James Henry Caldwell, Sr. and they was joined in Holy Matrimony on November 11, 1950 where she became Ida Mae Caldwell until his death in March 2010 and to this union eight children were born. She was a Virtuous Woman of who firmly believed in Jesus Christ. Ida attended First Primitive Baptist Church and was a very devoted member and served as a Deaconess, Mother of the church, a member of the Hymn Choir, the Missionary and she was also a leader of the 12 Tribe.

. Ida to most but “Mama” or “Granny” to many she had a joyful spirit. She was humble and a committed woman that showed unconditional love to everyone.

She was a loving person who enjoyed helping others and giving advice. She truly loves God and everyone she meets. Once you meet her, she would immediately claim you as her child or her grandchild.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories: one brother Bobby Flake of Flint, Michigan; one sister Dorothy Flake Anderson of Detroit Michigan; her children: James Henry Caldwell Jr. (Brenda) of Kannapolis, NC; Shirley Gray (Jerry) of Kannapolis, NC; Dianne Davis of Kannapolis, NC; Emily Bruton (Major) of Kannapolis, NC; and Georgette Means (Gregory) of Concord, NC; and Dolly Mae McCorkle (Tommy) of Kannapolis, NC; and Henry Marshall Caldwell Jr., of Concord, NC; her grandchildren; Joshua Charles Caldwell of Kannapolis, NC; James Henry Caldwell, III of Dallas, TX; Khrislyn Mackin of Charlotte, NC; Ida Marie Caldwell McCoy (William) of Fayetteville, NC; Jeffrey Lamont Caldwell of Huntsville, AL; Tyree Jamar Caldwell (Bianca) of Concord, NC; April Renee Means of Fayetteville, NC; Therisa Ann Means of Madison, AL; Darlene Creola McCorkle of Concord, NC; Charlene Brenda McCorkle of Kannapolis, NC; Shirley McCorkle of Charlotte, NC; Ricky Witherspoon(Regina) of Concord, NC; Jeffery Benton(Jean) of Charlotte, NC; John Eric Flake, Vander Flake; Dianne Flake all of Virginia and host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
