As you walk through cemeteries, the engravings you see on headstones include the person’s name, their birth date, a DASH and their final earthly date. Two important dates in the life of the person, but what hides there, in that tiny little DASH? Ida May Halbrooks Bailey’s DASH possesses one brother and 5 sisters.

And there’s a little particle of sand from the dust bowl in Texas and the subsequent move to Hotchkiss with everything they owned tied to their Model-T. Look closer and there’s a tiny braid, lovingly entwined with memories from 73 years married to Ernest Clay Bailey. There’s a family tree with 4 branches representing a daughter, Donna and three sons, Gary, Randy and Danny and 9 branches representing grandchildren and 6 representing great-grandchildren.

Turn that dash just a bit more and you see PRECIOUS MOMENTS, a memorable collection and a trip to Carthage, Missouri to the Chapel. Another small turn, the largest of all the engravings. You see God’s Word, engraved on her heart and lived out, prayed out, walked out in her life.

A prayer warrior, taking God’s promises literally, embedding them in the hearts of her family! Oh, there’s a fresh engraving, dusted with a fleck of gold. A stepping stone, just a small little step from this world and onto streets of gold.

And then you see the teardrops, September 6, 2018. We will miss you Ida, Mom, Granny B. A memorial celebration will be held at True Life Church in Cedaredge on Tuesday, September 11 at 2 PM.
